1) Steward Observatory Prize Fellowship in Cosmological Data Analysis
This is the main postdoctoral fellowship associated with the Arizona Cosmology Lab and broader Steward Observatory. Cosmological Data Analysis Fellows are expected to lead a high-profile, independent research program in any area related to data analysis of ongoing and future cosmological surveys, in particular DES, DESI, SPHEREx, Rubin Observatory’s LSST, the Roman Space Telescope, and CMB experiments. Applicants should outline their research plans to optimally extract cosmological information using one or multiple of these datasets. Expertise in modeling cosmological observables through analytical methods or numerical simulations, machine learning, statistical inference, and data reduction is beneficial. As members of the Arizona Cosmology Lab, fellows will be provided with priority access to UArizona and national supercomputing resources, close mentorship by experienced faculty, and opportunities to co-advise graduate students and mentor undergraduates.
This is a postdoctoral position that is advertised broadly in the fall, e.g. on AAS.
2) Brinson Postdoctoral Prize Fellowship in Observational Cosmology
The University of Arizona is one of 11 host institutions for the Brinson Fellowship. More information on this program can be found here https://www.stsci.edu/stsci-research/fellowships/brinson-prize-fellowship-program and we are happy to discuss a competitive proposal with interested candidates.
3) Other external postdoctoral fellowships
We are happy to discuss ideas and concepts for external fellowship applications (NASA Hubble, NSF Postdoc Fellowships, LSST Catalyst fellowship, International Exchange Programs) and host corresponding fellows at UArizona. In case of aligned research interests our lab will enable access to Super-Computing and other resources, such as cosmological data sets, simulations, analysis software.
4) Steward Observatory Prize Fellowships
Steward Observatory offers a range of Prize Fellowships (Bok, Strittmatter, Arizona-KASI, Steward Theory Prize) that are open to applicants from all fields of astronomy, including cosmology.
